OCTOBER

Buy Nothing New Month Australia – it’s about thinking where our stuff comes from (finite resources) and where it goes when we’re done (often landfill) and what are the fantastic alternatives out there to extend the life of our ‘stuff’.

30 Sept – 6 Oct National Op Shop Week – donate high quality goods, volunteer in an op shop, or buy from an op shop – it all makes a positive difference.

3rd E-waste pop-up (Warragul) – curious to find out what to do with e-waste, Tammy Logan will be at Bunnings Warragul, 10am to 4.30pm.

5th Yallourn North Town Garage Sale – a biannual Town Garage Sale, the bargains kick off at 8:30am

8th Public Information Session – the EPA is assessing a works approval application for an extension to Latrobe City Council Hyland Highway Landfill

11th E-waste pop-up (Leongatha) – curious to find out what to do with e-waste, Tammy Logan will be set-up outside the Leongatha Memorial Hall, 10am to 2pm.

13th Women Against Waste Event (Bairnsdale) – Swap, Donate, Recycle and Mend personal and household items whilst learning how to reduce your impact on the environment

14-15th NACRO 2019 Conference – National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations now include the Zero Waste Network.

15-16th Victorian Waste Education Conference – Hosted by Barwon South West Waste & Resource Recovery Group and Sustainability Victoria

17th Climate Change in the Classroom (Traralgon) – an opportunity for teachers to develop their skills to deliver education about climate change that is positive and future focused.

18th Climate Change in the Classroom (Warragul) – an opportunity for teachers to develop their skills to deliver education about climate change that is positive and future focused.

20th Almost New Market – Upcycled clothing, proceeds go back to Old Gippstown for the refurbishment of Sunny Creek School.

2oth Poowong Pickers Festival – a town garage sale. The event is in it’s fifth year and is held as part of the national Garage Sale Trail event.

21-27th World Water Week – Build awareness around the value of water. Theme for 2019: It’s time to change the world.

21-27th EnviroWeek – gives schools and students the chance to have fun while connecting with our local environment and community.

17th Climate Change in the Classroom (Bairnsdale) – an opportunity for teachers to develop their skills to deliver education about climate change that is positive and future focused.

23-24th Waste Expo Australia – the largest free to attend conference and exhibition for the waste management and wastewater treatment industries (Melbourne Convention Centre).
